Primark has received a new, larger capacity LST (Longer Semi-trailer) in August 2020, and has launched a number of new natural gas-powered trucks for the transportation business in the UK.
Recently, ten Iveco Stralis NP 460 (AS440S46T/P LNG) 4×2 tractors joined the Primark fleet, working around the clock to help stores and distribution centers across the UK for the temporary reopening of Primark stores in England and Wales on April 12 Get ready, and Scotland April 26. The 460hp (454bhp) 12.9-liter CURSOR 13 Natural Power engine also provides the longest service interval of 90,000 km, which minimizes downtime and achieves the highest work efficiency. Primark has designated its truck with the largest fuel tank capacity to achieve this outstanding range. The company has worked closely with Gasrec to achieve this change. Drivers have received an extensive education program to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines when refueling. The storage temperature of Bio-LNG is about -160°C. The trucks will be refueled at the DIRFT (Daventry International Railway Freight Station) in Crick, Northamptonshire, in Gaslake, Europe’s largest gas station. It can refuel 700 trucks a day and is located on the M1 road, just 30 miles along the A14 to the Primark distribution center in Islip. Vehicles provided by Guest Truck & Van and operated by DHL on behalf of Primark will operate day and night. Primark’s mainline activities between the regional distribution centers in Scotland and the Southwest take place at night, while during the day, it replenishes 190 stores in the UK. Another benefit of using a gasoline-powered fleet is that trucks have much lower operating noise than diesel vehicles, and only 71dB of noise is produced on PIEK silent trucks. Primark’s new trucks can operate in quiet mode in any urban area without violating any night city noise restrictions. A full set of external cameras with internal monitors ensures that the driver can see as well as what they can see, while the front and side scanning systems warn of any hidden obstacles or pedestrians during city maneuvers. In addition, the self-adjusting Aerodyne Global Aeromatic air deflector pushes the air to the top of the trailer 5m high, thereby reducing drag and optimizing fuel efficiency. Primark estimates that each vehicle will cover 200,000 kilometers per year. On this basis, Gasrec predicts that these 10 new trucks will reduce 1,300 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
